I knew from my past experiences with the Mystery Writers of America that writers were a selfless, encouraging group in a very competitive market, but I'm so far away from my NYC MWA chapter that I didn't get to know many of the members or participate much. With Twitter I am able to communicate and enjoy the benefits of knowing many wonderful authors and enjoying their books. The availability of tweeting them while reading their work is a priviledge I absolutely enjoy.Jill Pritchetthttp://www.mtnart.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23776112.post-20235678118855249952012-02-12T12:17:09.224-05:002012-02-12T12:17:09.224-05:00As friend and author Michael R. If it wasn't for the network of writers on Twitter I would feel so lost in the whole process. I've learned so much from the writing community.

I also find myself reading mainly Indie books now. There's just something about reading the work of someone you know that makes the story that much more enjoyable.Rob (Sharky) Prunedahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03852272996508745105noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23776112.post-90888502811103468132012-02-11T01:18:34.548-05:002012-02-11T01:18:34.548-05:00You are so correct! I have increased my TBR list by a few dozen by downloading the books of authors I've met online since joining Twitter. We can all help each other. I joined Rachel Harrie's Writer Platform-Building Campaign. It appears to be a great networking opportunity for authors. http://rachaelharrie.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/fourth-writers-platform-building_06.htmlRichard Alanhttp://villagedrummerfiction.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23776112.post-31116312693993063932012-02-06T14:46:47.853-05:002012-02-06T14:46:47.853-05:00Excellent post, this is exactly how I feel. This is a great concept and I'm all about it. I have a website called newfictionwriters.com I would love to promote other writers books and projects on it for free. In fact, I have a podcast where I can promote books. I was thinking that if a writer would like to contribute a short story for the podcast in return for (or trade if you like,) The promotion of your book on the site and the podcast I would love to do it. I really enjoy doing the podcast and I always need fresh material. A friend of mine R.J.Keith sent us a story and over 800 people have downloaded the audio version of it. Thats 800 people. thats not too shabby. Its not setting the world on fire...but it's not tyoo shabbyA.W.Whitford (Tony)https://twitter.com/#!/AWWhitfordnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23776112.post-52660833108032450712012-01-26T12:56:16.905-05:002012-01-26T12:56:16.905-05:00Great to have you back, Louise! Sometimes I can leave comments on other blogs, sometimes I can't.

As for your initial comment, I think putting other authors' words, or samples, into your own e-books is a great idea! So long as it is something most people actually have the time/money/mental-space to enjoy quite a number of I think it translates across quite easily. You can replace "readers" with "people" and start to talk about indie music, indie movies, indie games, indie crafts, indie artwork, &etc. ...

In all cases: "The [people] are THERE…they just don’t know you are."random9qhttp://random9q.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23776112.post-9308937777350845922012-01-16T11:32:18.626-05:002012-01-16T11:32:18.626-05:00I totally agree with you.
