I have finished my novel, finally.
It's called The Bones of the Earth, and I'd like to describe it as "magic realism."
I consider this a fairly significant personal milestone. While I have started a number of novels and made a lot of progress on them — and while I still consider finishing them at some time — this is the first one that I have finished.
So, the next step is, of course, to try to publish it. And to tell the truth, I find the prospect a little imtimidating.
Which is strange, in some ways. I have been published many, many times before, on paper and online; I've written articles and reports, but I have never published a work of fiction before.
I hope that my experience as a published writer will give me an advantage when it comes to publishing a novel, but I don't think it will make much difference: fiction and journalism are such different worlds, really.
So, any advice? Any thoughts? I'd love to hear from anyone who has anything to offer.
Scott
